This category of dogs are basically German breeds bred to protect people and their property. As such their appearance and demeanour could to appear intimidating. But these breeds are typically fearless and willing to defend its owners from other people or guard dogs. At the sane time, they should be obedient and sufficiently restrained to retreat on command.

Schnauzers
